I assume that Holden was pressuring Sean to come out and that’s why they broke up (going by his conversation on the plane about being an idiot or it was his fault or something, and his regrets that they broke up over it.) Then Sean comes out, and Holden saw it on TV. :-)
I’m sitting here like ‘AWWWWW’ this whole scene. Gotta’ love how Holden is petting Sean’s hair and how they are looking at each-other, too. So precious! My favourite part of the movie. :-)
